Some New Concrete

We were away for a few days and when we came back the concrete walkway from the front porch to the driveway, the walkway from driveway to side garage door and the mouth to our driveway had been poured.

Other than that not much else happened. We were told all the woodwork / trim, doors and painting will take place this week, we shall see. Check back later.

Boring week!

We were told that things would slow down for a little bit and they sure did this week. They did blow in the attic insulation on Tuesday. The only real news is they delivered all of our interior trim & doors, which according to the schedule will be installed tomorrow. Hopefully we'll have more to report after the weekend. Sanding

Good Monday morning! I stopped by at the house last night and it appears that they have sanded all of the walls in preparation for painting. No new pictures, but we will keep you posted as things move along.

Garage Doors

The garage doors were put on today. It looks like final spackling was also completed inside. Our construction manager said that the finishing touches will be put on the drywall work next week as well as the start of the interior trim work around the windows and doors. It's looking more and more like a house every day! Keep checking in for updated posts.

GUTTERS

They got the gutters and downspouts completed yesterday. They also connected the electric to the house, so we now have POWER! The spackling is completed, but there are a few areas that need to be sanded and finished. Right now things seem to be moving a little slower than before.

We're still waiting for the garage doors to go on and some other finish work on the exterior. After that the interior will really get moving, we figure things will start going fast next week. We'll be sure to post any new and exciting additions as soon as they happen.

Time for Spackling!

They began the spackling and taping today, it isn't finished, but there is a first coat on both floors. They also finished the siding and trim work. There are still a few more exterior components that need to be completed.

Apparently one of the trim pieces that goes over top of our front windows "disappeared", so they will need to get a new one and add that on at some point. As far as we know the garage doors will be going on soon - I hope this week sometime. Be sure to keep checking back.

Once the tape and spackling are finished we were told it will be a whirlwind of work going on inside! Can't wait to get those pics.

Drywall is complete!

We had our first meal in the new house... SERIOUSLY, we ordered pizza Saturday night, picked it up, then went over and ate in the kitchen.

But anyway, the drywall on the first floor was completed quickly on Saturday morning. We are continually amazed at the speed of the work - these workers really know what they're doing. All of the spackle and tape is in the house and ready to go - we have to assume tomorrow - HOPEFULLY! We are counting down the days and now have 46 days, they pretty much assured us they ARE on schedule! So those of you who plan to help out with the move - mark your calendars for Saturday August 2nd!

More FAST moving progress

WOW - this was a little unexpected for us. The drywall was hung in the entire second floor! We got over there after dinner and were pleasantly surprised. The siding on the back of the house is also completely finished! We are excited to see what happens next week! Stay tuned.

More Progress

They really know how to keep moving along. This morning they finished the siding on the left side of the house, a large portion of the front, and hung the shutters. The post for the porch was installed, and they delivered the drywall. We're looking forward to the drywall getting hung! We'll keep you posted.

Amazing Progress!

Well, things have really moved since we last posted. All of the electrical is completed, the insulation is in, all of the doors are installed and the siding is started. We had a "Pre-Drywall Meeting/Inspection today, that went REALLY well. There were some "errors" in our favor, where they added in some extra outlets - that's a nice thing. The drywall will probably begin next week. It could be tomorrow for all we know. Keep checking back for new updates!

Electrical Work

They are moving along with the electrical wiring. Things are looking REALLY good - at least from a new construction standpoint of 2x4's, bare walls, exposed plumbing and wires sticking out everywhere - SIMPLY BEAUTIFUL! They also finished our front entrance "porch" concrete pad. We are counting down the days, and still have SO much to pack!

Roof "Fairies"

Well, we were over at the house on Saturday night, around 6:30pm and the roofing shingles were still not complely on, many of the bundles were laying over the top of the roof.

We stopped by on our way home from church Sunday, around 1pm, and all of the roofing was completed - only ONE explanation - ROOF FAIRIES!!! They sure know how to get the work done quickly!

Another Day

Things continue along. We're told this is the time where it seems nothing is happening, but really are. Yesterday the HVAC guys were in finishing up duct work. Some of the roofing shingles were put on, and we have a pre-drywall meeting next week.

Plumbing and Stairs!

All the plumbing is in. Our neighbors said that the workers hit the water main yesterday when they were digging. They had to turn the neighbor's water off! Glad we missed that, but it may have been cool to see pictures of it. :) We have been visiting regularly and the kids are excited that the stairs went in this week too, so Jake got to stand in his bedroom the other night. Our water heater is in the basement and we will be adding a new post soon with some other developments that have taken place.

Moving Right Along!

Well we are into Day four of framing and they aren't wasting anytime. Today plumbing went in, with both showers being set up in the second floor. They put our cool (at least we think it's cool) octogon window in going up to the second floor, as well as the rest of the windows. Doors were delivered today as well. I'm assuming they will be doing electrical and the rest of the plumbing next, as well as setting the doors in place. Keep checking in, we'll be updating every chance we get!

Roof is on!!!

Wow! This is faster than we thought. By 8:20 this morning they were putting the last roof truss on. When I drove by a few minutes later, they were putting the trusses over the garage and when I drove by at lunch they already had the sheathing on and were starting the tar paper for the roof!
