3 Week Update

Hello Everyone!

Here's a quick update on our progress at the new house. For those of you who don't have it, the new address is 3597 Wildflower Lane Mountville, PA 17554. Well, it's been 3 weeks and we have been busy trying to find a place for everything and trying to get organized. It sure is a lot of work. Things are coming along even with our limited schedules since school and work and football are all in full swing. It leaves evenings (some) and weekends (some) to get things done. There are some pictures of the yard, which received it's first ever mowing on Saturday, the office, the kitchen and the garage. (Which Zeke has made his permanent home) We tried to get Zeke to join us in the house, but he likes being outside and prefers the garage. He enjoys the many walks and doggie smells of the neighborhood. Jacob has made himself right at home with the 4 other boys his age and is gone most of the time building forts, skipping rocks and exploring with his friends. The kids are all back to school and are doing well with being bus riders, except Michael got on the High School bus the first day by mistake. It all worked out though and he LOVES middle school. Lindsay is also enjoying school and has made some new friends.

We're Finally in!

Well, we are finally in after all of the drama of the past few weeks. We settled on both houses on Friday, spent a few hours being homeless in between and had everything @ the new house by dinner time. A great big THANK YOU to all of the awesome friends and family who helped for several hours to get the job done! As you can see from the pictures, we are just getting settled in, but still have a lot of work to do. We are enjoying the nice cool weather and my Dad is the master of hanging everything and did about 2 months of work in 2 days hanging all of our paper holders, towel bars, window treatments, quilt rack, pictures, etc. He built some steps out back today from the sliding door off the kitchen. My Mom is here for the week to help unpack and organize. Thanks for all of your prayers and support and please stop by to take a peek. We will hopefully settle in and have an Open House in September.

Grass is Growing!

Good Morning. Well, we sure have come a long way since May! We have been watering the yard every morning and the grass is already sprouting up, it is great to have the 1 week head start before we move in. The builder is actually going to raise the grade in the backyard a bit since we have 1 spot that is collecting water. We had our "zero defect" walk through this morning, but we have a few things that still aren't just right, so they will be fixed today or tomorrow. We are being picky, but this is the time to do it, b/c we don't want people to have to come back to fix things once we move in. Only 4 days until we move in! We are really getting excited now and would appreciate your continued prayers for all the details and settlements to go smoothly. We have to put in our mailbox this week, but otherwise things are ready to roll.

House is finished! We are thrilled with it and can't wait for everyone to come for a visit!
We will be moving next Friday August 8th!

We have a Yard!

We now have our yard! It was graded and raked this morning and we got some pictures of them spraying the hydroseed. Now the hard work begins, keeping it watered and taking care of it.

We had our "Celebration" yesterday and our new oven bakes some pretty tasty cookies and our new microwave pops the perfect bag of popcorn. We will have our "zero defect" walk through Monday morning which means that any imperfections we spotted yesterday should be corrected by Monday morning.

We are settling on the house next Friday August 8th. We will be loading up trucks, etc. Thursday night and Friday and doing the bulk of our moving on Friday. If anyone is available, please join us! We will be feeding you :)

Stay Tuned!

We are very excited to say that settlement has been worked out!

This is SUCH a blessing!! Sparing you all the boring and dramatic juicy details, the bottom line is that we will settle on both houses on August 8th. This will definitely effect the moving plans, but we aren't sure how yet, so stay tuned for more details. Occupancy permits will be needed if we plan to still move stuff this weekend, so maybe we will know more tomorrow.

Also tomorrow is our "Celebration" at the new house and we will have some more pictures tomorrow as well. Thanks for all of your prayers

Touch Ups and News

Well, no new pictures since everything except the yard is finished, but they have been busy fixing drywall, touching up paint and correcting errors. There's still a lot to do for touch ups, but it should all be finished up soon. Seeding is this week.

On a frustrating note, the people buying our house are on vacation this week, so we will probably have to change our settlement date back a week. We are not sure yet and may still be able to move stuff in next weekend, but won't know until Monday at the earliest. Needless to say this is not what we were hoping for, but in the long run, it really won't matter. We are just anxious to get moved in and settled. The home inspection on our house for the buyers went very well, only 1 minor repair that we can do in a few minutes with little to no expense. YEAH!

Stay Tuned!!!!

A Little Landscaping, etc.

Good Evening.

The walkway to the front door was landscaped on both sides, they mulched and put in a few plants and bushes.

When I stopped in this evening, they had installed the doorbell, finished the lights, (except the ones that were ordered wrong and need to be switched) cleaned up some things and finished the vent covers and switch plates.

We have an inspection tomorrow and then I guess we will get the final paint touch ups, final landscaping and seeding and odds and ends finished. It is looking great, but there are still lots of little things to be done.

Check back soon for more pictures.

Almost finished!

Once again, we are constantly amazed at the speed that things get finished. When we stopped by last night, all of the lighting fixtures were in and the appliances were in. The wire racks went in all the closets today and they hung mirrors in the bathrooms. The pocket door was installed in the kids' bathroom. There is A LOT of paint touch up and cleaning up to do and a list of minor things to be straightened out, but the final inspection is scheduled for Thursday.
We are still scheduled for settlement next week. We will post anything new as it happens.

Busy day!

Wow! We are still amazed every day that we go to the house and see how much they can accomplish in one day. All of the carpet was installed today, upstairs and down. All of the doorknobs are on and the exterior lights by the doors and the floodlight were also installed. The final grading was done and the landscapers will finish that up next week with raking and seeding. We were pleasantly surprised with the grade in the back, it is not as steep as we expected from the sliding door to the ground, 2 steps at most.

Check back next week. Enjoy the weekend!

The Important things in Life!!!

Well, the most important feature of the house was completed today...the toilets were installed. :)

In addition, all of the sinks received faucets and the water main was connected. The railings going upstairs and to the basement were installed, all of the kitchen lighting was finished. Switch plates and vent covers were started.

Tomorrow is grading outside and carpet inside. Our appliances are due to be installed on Tuesday and the final drywall repairs and paint touch ups will also be next week.

Keep checking back for more pictures. We are almost finished!!!

We have a kitchen!

The kitchen cabinets and countertops went in yesterday, as well as the 2 upstairs bathroom vanities. All the outlets and switch plates also got covers. Not sure what today will bring, but it is really starting to look like a house inside!

More good news...WE SOLD OUR HOUSE!!!!

Busy Week Ahead

No new pictures for today, but we were told that we have a lot of items on the schedule for this week. Kitchen cabinets and countertops, bathroom vanities and tops, outlet and switch covers, duct work covers, carpet, grading around the house and lighting are all on the schedule. Please check back frequently to see pictures this week.

PS - We got an offer on our house today!

Adura Planks are in!

WOW! We stopped by the house this afternoon to see if there was anything exciting and they had started the kitchen, foyer and powder room flooring. We stopped back this evening to get pictures and they were minutes from being finished! The color was actually not what we meant to order, but we really like it. It is the same flooring we have in our kitchen and dining room now, but a different shade. We think cabinets and countertops are next, they are all at the house and ready to be installed. Check back in a couple days! :)

What a nice surprise!

We were pleasantly surprised to see this afternoon they completed a lot more than we thought. All of the cabinetry was delivered. They installed vinyl flooring in the upstairs bathrooms and laundry, and completed the sub-flooring for where the plank flooring will be installed (the same stuff we have in our current kitchen and dining room for those of you who have seen that).

All of the Mannington Adura Plank flooring was delivered, maybe that will go in tomorrow??? I guess since we are now down to a few weeks this is the time they will start to fly through the rest of the construction! Anyone planning on helping us move, don't forget to mark Saturday August 2nd down on your calendar, we will be starting early. Check back again soon.

We're Back from the Beach!

HI, while we were away at the beach for July 4th they did a whole bunch of things. Since we last posted we have had the trim completed, they painted inside and out and completed the paving of our driveway.
This afternoon they also delivered the bathroom cultured marble tops and the kitchen counters. Between now and next Tuesday they are supposed to deliver flooring, cabinets and light fixtures - then install! As soon as there is more to share we will be back on. Take care.

Wood Trim & Doors

Now things are starting to pick up again. They delivered all of the paint today and are planning to paint tomorrow. The trim guys were there all day today (still working at 6pm) and told me they need to finish tonight - so that was good! After the trim and painting they will be putting in all of the finish products - that will be really cool! Please continue to check back.

Some New Concrete

We were away for a few days and when we came back the concrete walkway from the front porch to the driveway, the walkway from driveway to side garage door and the mouth to our driveway had been poured.

Other than that not much else happened. We were told all the woodwork / trim, doors and painting will take place this week, we shall see. Check back later.

Boring week!

We were told that things would slow down for a little bit and they sure did this week. They did blow in the attic insulation on Tuesday. The only real news is they delivered all of our interior trim & doors, which according to the schedule will be installed tomorrow. Hopefully we'll have more to report after the weekend. Be sure to check back next week.

Sanding

Good Monday morning! I stopped by at the house last night and it appears that they have sanded all of the walls in preparation for painting. No new pictures, but we will keep you posted as things move along.

Garage Doors

The garage doors were put on today. It looks like final spackling was also completed inside. Our construction manager said that the finishing touches will be put on the drywall work next week as well as the start of the interior trim work around the windows and doors. It's looking more and more like a house every day! Keep checking in for updated posts.

GUTTERS

They got the gutters and downspouts completed yesterday. They also connected the electric to the house, so we now have POWER! The spackling is completed, but there are a few areas that need to be sanded and finished. Right now things seem to be moving a little slower than before.

We're still waiting for the garage doors to go on and some other finish work on the exterior. After that the interior will really get moving, we figure things will start going fast next week. We'll be sure to post any new and exciting additions as soon as they happen.

Time for Spackling!

They began the spackling and taping today, it isn't finished, but there is a first coat on both floors. They also finished the siding and trim work. There are still a few more exterior components that need to be completed.

Apparently one of the trim pieces that goes over top of our front windows "disappeared", so they will need to get a new one and add that on at some point. As far as we know the garage doors will be going on soon - I hope this week sometime. Be sure to keep checking back.

Once the tape and spackling are finished we were told it will be a whirlwind of work going on inside! Can't wait to get those pics.

Drywall is complete!

We had our first meal in the new house... SERIOUSLY, we ordered pizza Saturday night, picked it up, then went over and ate in the kitchen.

But anyway, the drywall on the first floor was completed quickly on Saturday morning. We are continually amazed at the speed of the work - these workers really know what they're doing. All of the spackle and tape is in the house and ready to go - we have to assume tomorrow - HOPEFULLY! We are counting down the days and now have 46 days, they pretty much assured us they ARE on schedule! So those of you who plan to help out with the move - mark your calendars for Saturday August 2nd!

More FAST moving progress

WOW - this was a little unexpected for us. The drywall was hung in the entire second floor! We got over there after dinner and were pleasantly surprised. The siding on the back of the house is also completely finished! We are excited to see what happens next week! Stay tuned.
